    • Biography

      Oleksandr was an active participant in the fan movement of the Dnipro football club, where he was known by the nickname Derzky. This nickname became his call sign when he volunteered to join the BPSMOP "Azov." After Oleksandr's death, his friends set up banners in Dnipro dedicated to the memory of the hero. On August 31, before the start of the Ukrainian Premier League match between FC "Dnipro" and FC "Vorskla" (from Poltava), which took place at the Dnipro Arena stadium, fans and players honored the memory of Oleksandr Rusak with a moment of silence, and the players of "Dnipro" came out for the pre-match lineup in black T-shirts with Oleksandr's portrait.

      Killed in action on August 23, 2014, during the battle for the liberation of the city of Ilovaisk in the Donetsk region. In the evening of August 23, 2014, one of the reconnaissance groups of the BPSMOP "Azov," operating in the area of the city of Ilovaisk, fell into an ambush and was fired upon with a grenade launcher. Oleksandr was killed in action, and two of his comrades were wounded. Despite these losses, the fighters of "Azov" completely destroyed the enemy in the battle.
