Oleksandr O. Sapian (Sanych)

Senior Sergeant Oleksandr Sapian (call sign Sanich) was killed on June 19, 2023 during assault operations near the settlement of Velyka Novosilka in the Donetsk region. The defender was 44 years old. Oleksandr was born in the village of Zasillia, Mykolaiv region. He lived in Mykolaiv. In 1996, he graduated from Mykolaiv Vocational School No. 26 and obtained the profession of electromechanic for the repair of commercial and trade refrigerators. He worked in the construction and repair industry - at the company "Darisbud". In his free time, he loved to play football. On the day of the man's birthday, February 24, 2022, a full-scale war began. Without hesitation, he went to the military commissariat that same day. And in just two days, he became a serviceman of the 406th separate artillery brigade of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In February 2023, he was transferred to the newly formed 37th separate brigade of the Marine Corps. There he held the position of senior sergeant, commander of a grenade launcher platoon of the fire support company. "Sashko was extremely kind, cheerful and cheerful, he was not afraid of anything. Freedom, honor and dignity were the greatest values for him. It was for this that my husband was killed," said Kateryna Sapian. The marine was buried on the Alley of Heroes of the Matveevsky cemetery in Mykolaiv. Oleksandr is survived by his mother, wife, children, sister and nephews.
