Oleksandr O. Tkachuk (Aleks)

Marine Alexander Tkachuk (call sign Alex) died on November 18, 2023, while carrying out a combat mission on the left bank of the Dnieper near Kherson. During enemy mortar shelling, he received fatal injuries. The defender was forever 29 years old. Alexander was a resident of the village of Nova Praga, Kirovohrad region. From a young age, he loved sports and often participated in athletics competitions, where he won awards. He then studied at the Faculty of Psychology of the Poltava National Pedagogical University named after V.G. Korolenko. He went to work in Poland, but always wanted to live in his homeland. On November 1, 2022, the man was mobilized into the ranks of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 38th separate brigade of the marine corps. He was the gunner of the mortar platoon of the airborne assault company. "Alexander is a special person to me. He was the best friend, comrade, son. Always responsible and disciplined, courageous. This is a heavy loss for me and for all who loved him... He will be forever in my heart," said his best friend Tetyana Chumachenko. The soldier was buried in the village of Nova Praga, Kirovohrad region. Alexander is survived by his parents, two brothers, relatives, friends and comrades-in-arms.
