- Sergeant Oleksandr Tsakhniv (call sign Journalist) was killed on March 25, 2023 near the settlement of Kurdyumivka in his native Donetsk region. While carrying out a combat mission, the soldier came under enemy artillery fire and sustained fatal injuries. He was 37 years old. Oleksandr was born in the village of Krasne in the Donetsk region. He lived in the city of Selidove in the Donetsk region. He graduated from the Donetsk State University of Management. He worked as a journalist. He played bass guitar in a band, wrote music, and read extensively. During the full-scale war, the man changed his profession and became a warrior. He joined the ranks of the 37th separate rifle battalion. He took the position of a rifleman-grenade launcher assistant and went to the front line. "Sasha was a bright person with a broad outlook and heightened virtues. He was a worthy warrior who defended Ukraine until his last breath," said the wife of the deceased, Valentyna. "His entire professional path was filled with love for Ukraine and his native Donetsk region. Before entering journalism, Sasha was a coordinator of the 'Strong Communities' movement and tirelessly engaged in the democratic development of the region - he organized public events and initiatives, cultural events, and was concerned about the development of the Ukrainian East. Sasha never tolerated injustice. Therefore, when he became part of our team, he took on a very important role - he wrote about corruption in the Donetsk region, dishonest officials, and what prevents us from living worthily on our land. He was the honor and conscience of our team. There was always something to talk about with him: from the latest news in cinema to philosophical theories. Sasha was also a talented musician - he was a master of the guitar," wrote his colleagues from the news agency "Vchasno". Oleksandr was buried in the Alley of Glory of the Stepovy Cemetery in the city of Selidove. At home, his parents, brother, and wife were waiting for him.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
