- 26-year-old Sergeant Oleksandr Tsapenko (call sign Domovyi) was killed on October 12, 2023, while defending the city of Avdiivka in the Donetsk region. The defender sustained fatal injuries during enemy mortar shelling. Oleksandr was from the Sumy region. He graduated from the Sumy Higher Vocational School of Construction and Transport, where he obtained the profession of a car repair mechanic. In 2016-2018, he served in the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. After demobilization, he got married and worked as a driver. He was passionate about cars. After the start of the full-scale invasion, on May 1, 2022, he voluntarily joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served as part of the 110th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after General-Ensign Marko Bezruchko. Even in the army, he was engaged in what he knew best - he was a driver. "He was kind, brave, and dedicated, always coming to help. He was the best son, brother, husband, and dad for his two little sons. We miss him so much," said the deceased's beloved Marina Holopiorova. Oleksandr was buried in the village of Vyry in the Sumy region. He is survived by his parents Oleksandr Volodymyrovych and Tetiana Andriivna, sister Anna, sons Oleksandr and Dmytro, civil wife, and other relatives and close ones.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
