- Junior Lieutenant Oleksandr Yurov (call sign Musician) was killed on September 28, 2023 while performing a combat mission in the Kherson region. While holding positions on the left bank of the Dnieper, he received a fatal injury as a result of a direct hit by an enemy artillery shell. On September 6, the defender turned 35 years old. Oleksandr was born in the village of Hornostaivka, Kherson region. He obtained two higher educations at Kherson State University - one in the Faculty of Culture and Arts, specializing in "Musical Art", and the other in the Faculty of Psychology, History and Sociology, specializing in "Secondary Education (History)". He lived for music and the stage. He was interested in everything new and constantly deepened his knowledge in various fields of science: history, biology, astronomy, political science, etc. He loved new technologies and military affairs. From 2010, he worked as a guitar teacher at Kherson School No. 4 and was the bass guitarist in the cover band "ReDance". In 2016-2021, he combined these two jobs with a third - in the police music orchestra. During the full-scale war, the man joined the ranks of the 124th separate brigade of the territorial defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He underwent training, received an officer's rank and became a platoon commander. He carried out several successful operations on the left bank. During his service, he was awarded the President of Ukraine's "For the Defense of Ukraine" distinction. His beloved Anastasia Hlushko said: "I don't know a purer, kinder and more worthy person. An idealist, a romantic, a patriot, a desperate and courageous warrior, a creative person, a professional in his field. He was the best at everything. Not because he was my beloved person. That's how it was - everything worked out for him. He had big dreams and even bigger prospects and goals. He is a true leader. He was valued and is valued everywhere. For his students, he is an example, for his relatives, acquaintances, colleagues and comrades-in-arms - a Hero. He told everyone: "Love Ukraine as you love your own." He was a person with an internal code of honor, who believed in good, justice and our victory until his last breath. During his entire service, he did not take a vacation, did not even think about it, because he always said: "It's not the right time, we need to do everything possible for our victory and the establishment of peace in our country." Oleksandr was temporarily transferred from the infantry to a personnel position, but he wanted something else. He was eager for battle, he did not want to sit out, deal with documentation. He wanted to be involved in the liberation of his native land. He dreamed of liberating the left bank of the Kherson region from occupation, his parents, relatives, countrymen, and then returning other territories of Ukraine, preserving the integrity and unity of the Motherland." The officer was buried in the Alley of Glory of the Geologists Cemetery in Kherson. Oleksandr is survived by his parents, daughter, beloved, grandmother, grandfather, other relatives, friends and comrades-in-arms.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
