- Junior Sergeant Oleksandr Zub (call sign Hydrob) was killed on October 18, 2023 near the settlement of Prydniprovske in the Kherson region. During the execution of a combat mission, the group of defenders came under air attack by the occupiers. The group commander was killed immediately, so Oleksandr took on his duties. He was leading the group out of the shelling. When everyone was already safe, he remained alone in the open area and received fatal wounds. Until he lost consciousness, he continued to fulfill his task. Two months before this, the defender turned 50 years old. Oleksandr was born in the city of Tokmak, Zaporizhia region. He lived in the city of Dnipro. He studied at the Oles Honchar Dnipro National University and obtained the profession of a hydrobiologist. In civilian life, he had his own enterprise for the production of concrete products. He loved to cook and travel. He read a lot. During the full-scale Russian invasion, the man fought for his country as part of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Oleksandr served in the 36th Separate Marine Brigade named after Rear Admiral Mykhailo Bilynsky. Together with his comrades-in-arms, he carried out complex combat missions on the hot fronts. "My father was a man with a capital letter. He loved people, loved life. He always helped everyone and never complained, no matter how difficult it was for him. He was always ready to come to the rescue and asked for nothing in return. He could find a way out of any situation and had golden hands that could do anything. He was my hero even before the war and will remain so forever," said Oleksandra Zub. The marine was buried at the Krasnopilsky cemetery in Dnipro. Oleksandr is survived by his mother, beloved wife and two daughters.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
