Oleksandr P. Malyk (Miller)

Senior soldier Oleksandr Malyk (call sign Miller) was killed on December 29, 2022 in a battle for the city of Avdiivka, Donetsk region. While repelling the enemy's assault, he received fatal injuries. On December 6, the defender turned 44 years old. Oleksandr was born in the village of Maryanivka, Vinnytsia region. He stuwas killed at the school in the village of Bonduriv. He then obtained the qualification of a junior specialist at the Vinnytsia Technical School of Electronic Devices. His last place of work was LLC "Zorya Podillya". On February 24, 2022, the man joined the territorial defense. In March 2022, on his own initiative, he joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 38th separate rifle battalion (military unit A4038). He held the position of a rifleman-assistant grenadier. Together with his comrades-in-arms, he was in the hot spots of the Donetsk region. "He was an incredible person, sociable, open, honest, responsible, friendly and restrained, he had the right life priorities and guidelines. In October 2022, he came on leave for a few days, then his elder son introduced us, and 2 months later he came home on a shield," said Olesya Chernilevska, the fiancée of the deceased's elder son. Oleksandr was buried in his native village. At home, his parents, wife and two sons were waiting for him. The military man was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree.
