Oleksandr P. Skoruk

Sergeant Oleksandr Skoruk was killed on January 25, 2023 in battle with the occupiers near the village of Vodiane in the Donetsk region. The soldier received fatal injuries during enemy shelling from "Grads". He did not live 5 days until his 51st birthday. Oleksandr was born in the village of Rozhnyativka, Vinnytsia region. He studied at a rural school. Then he graduated from the Kyiv Geological Exploration Technical School. He served in the military. For 17 years he worked in the mines of the Donetsk region. His last place of work was the Krasnolymanska mine. Before the invasion of the occupiers, the man retired. During the full-scale war, Oleksandr joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine to protect his native country and loved ones from the enemy. He held the position of senior rifleman in the 59th separate motorized infantry brigade named after Yakov Handziuk. "Dad was the best friend to me. He always helped us, loved us very much. He was very kind. He could always listen. Everyone loved him. We miss him terribly. This is a terrible loss for our family. Unspeakable pain," said the fallen soldier's daughter Olesya. The defender was buried in his native village. Oleksandr is survived by his mother, sister, son, daughter, relatives, friends and comrades-in-arms. On July 18, 2023, a memorial plaque in memory of the fallen was unveiled on the facade of the Rozhnyativka gymnasium.
