- 53-year-old Chief Sergeant Oleksandr Maksuotov (call sign Batcha) was killed in action on March 28, 2022, during the defense of the city of Mariupol in Donetsk region. During the performance of a combat mission in the area of the city of Kalmius near the Azovstal plant, he received fatal injuries as a result of an enemy rocket attack. Oleksandr Maksuotov was born and lived in the city of Mykolaiv. He had a secondary education. In civilian life, he worked as a builder. He was fond of Ukrainian history. He was involved in sports, especially loved running. In 2015, the man decided that he could not remain on the sidelines when the country was at war and joined the ranks of the National Guard of Ukraine. He guarded critically important infrastructure during the deployment of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Donetsk region. In 2020, he joined the separate special-purpose unit "Azov". He participated in the Joint Forces Operation. During the full-scale invasion, he held the position of commander of a gun crew in the howitzer artillery division. Since February 24, he had been defending Mariupol and the Azovstal plant. "My Sasha was an incredibly honest, kind, brave, and very modest person. He was a true patriot. In peaceful life, he always helped people. In his free time, of which there was little, he took care of the improvement of public territories, planted trees, and cared for them so that people would be well," said his wife Natalia. At home, Oleksandr was awaited by his mother, wife, daughter, and son. Posthumously, the warrior was awarded the Order "For Courage" III degree.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
