Oleksandr S. Chyrtsov (Pioner)

Born on May 24, 1977, in the urban-type settlement of Desna, Kozelets district, Chernihiv region. He lived with his family in the city of Kobyliaky, Poltava region, and later in the city of Artemivsk (now Bakhmut), Donetsk region. In the winter of 2013-2014, he was at Maidan Nezalezhnosti in Kyiv, where he was an active participant in the Revolution of Dignity. With the onset of military actions in eastern Ukraine, he moved with his family to the city of Poltava. In early 2015, he volunteered to join the Separate Volunteer Company "Carpathian Sich" (from July 2015 - the separate combined assault company "Carpathian Sich" of the 93rd separate mechanized brigade of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine), where he served as a medical instructor and a shooting instructor. From February 2015, he participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. Call sign "Pioneer." On April 15, 2015, Oleksandr Chyrtsov died from a shrapnel wound to the heart as a result of a direct hit by an artillery shell on the medical unit's location in the village of Pisky, Yasynuvata district, Donetsk region. He was buried on April 18, 2015, in the cemetery of the city of Kobyliaky, Poltava region.
