Oleksandr S. Hroshchenko (Hrosha)

43-year-old serviceman Oleksandr Groshchenko (call sign Grosha) was killed on May 30, 2022 between the villages of Myronivka and Vozdvyzhenka in the Donetsk region. Around 5:00 am, Russian occupiers began shelling the positions of Ukrainian defenders with mortars, aviation and tanks. A tank shell hit the trench where Oleksandr was. Oleksandr was born and lived his entire life in Kyiv. He graduated from the Kyiv Professional College of Municipal Economy and the National University named after V.I. Vernadsky. From the first days of the full-scale war, Oleksandr stood up to defend his native country and city. He joined the ranks of the 241st separate brigade of the territorial defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was a driver. Together with his comrades-in-arms, the man went to defend the country from the occupiers. "My father was a wonderful person, sensitive and kind. We miss him very much in our family... Glory to Ukraine!" - said Arina, the daughter of the fallen warrior. The defender was buried at the Berkovetske cemetery in his native Kyiv. Oleksandr is survived by his mother, wife and daughter.
