Oleksandr S. Hvozd (Brodiaha)

Soldier Oleksandr Hvozd (call sign Wanderer) was killed on February 11, 2023, during a hostile assault on the positions of Ukrainian defenders near the village of Makiivka in the Luhansk region. In January, the defender turned 36 years old. Oleksandr was born in Cherkasy. He studied at the local school No. 2. Then he worked in various fields. He created a family, raised children whom he adored, and did everything for them. He dreamed of a peaceful future for his family and the country. During the full-scale invasion, the man joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served as a machine gunner in military unit A4103. "You promised to come back... You said the kids were waiting for you... You were always cheerful. You were the first to come to help. How to tell the kids now: 'Don't wait for dad, he won't come back'? Sleep peacefully, dear brother," wrote the sister of the deceased Vira. "He was a devoted husband and the best father!" said Tetiana Svyrydova. The defender was buried in the Alley of Glory in his native Cherkasy. At home, Oleksandr was waited for by his wife, two children, and a loving family.
