Oleksandr S. Pohorilchuk

Senior combat medic Oleksandr Pohorilchuk was killed in action on July 17, 2022, in battles in Donetsk region. The fighter was 26 years old. Oleksandr was born in the village of Holik, Khmelnytskyi region. He stuwas killed in action at the Varvarivka comprehensive school. In 2015, he graduated from the Shepetivka Medical School with a degree in "Medicine" and received the qualification of a paramedic. After studying, he worked in a correctional colony in the city of Iziaslav. In 2019, he went to serve in the 80th separate airborne assault brigade. As a combat medic, he performed tasks in the area of the Anti-Terrorist Operation/ Joint Forces Operation. In 2021, Oleksandr became the silver medalist in the competition for the best specialist in tactical medicine of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The same year, he was awarded the distinction of the Commander of the United Forces "For Valor and Loyalty". Twice, in 2021 and 2022, he was awarded the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with the badge "For Excellence in Military Service". In February 2022, during the full-scale war, Oleksandr's younger brother Vitaliy was killed in action, with whom they served in the same brigade. Oleksandr was buried in his native village with all military honors. The hero left behind his mother, who lost two sons in the Russian-Ukrainian war, and his fiancée.
