Oleksandr S. Silchenko (Diadia)

Soldier Oleksandr Silchenko (call sign Uncle) was killed on December 30, 2022 near the village of Makiivka in Luhansk region. While carrying out a combat mission, he sustained fatal shrapnel wounds during enemy mortar shelling. The defender was forever 37 years old. Oleksandr was born in the city of Antratsyt, Luhansk region. He received his secondary education there. He then served his compulsory military service. Since 2014, he lived in the city of Nosivka in Chernihiv region. In civilian life, he worked in the patrol police. He was married, building a house for his family, and had many plans and dreams for his life. During the full-scale war, in November 2022, the man joined the ranks of the defenders. He became a serviceman of the 66th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Prince Mstislav the Brave. The man longed to return home with victory and embrace his loved ones as soon as possible. He very much wanted to spend time with his newborn daughter, watch her grow and live in a peaceful country. But it was not to be. "My husband is a Hero of Ukraine. I want his memory to live forever. He is forever in our hearts!" said the wife of the fallen. The soldier was buried in the city of Nosivka, Chernihiv region. Oleksandr is survived by his parents Halyna and Serhii, his wife Aliona and daughter Veronika, who was born in 2022.
