Oleksandr S. Sylchenko (502-th)

Senior soldier Oleksandr Sylchenko (call sign 502) was killed on December 31, 2022 near the village of Novosilka in the Luhansk region. While returning from a combat mission, he suffered a fatal explosive injury as a result of enemy artillery shelling. The defender was 28 years old. Oleksandr was born in the village of Verkhnovodiane, Kharkiv region. After graduating from the 9th grade of the local school, he received vocational education at the Lypkovatske Agrarian College. In 2018-2021, he served under contract in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He participated in the ATO / JFO. Then he worked on the railway. He devoted his free time to his family. However, on February 24, 2022, the man returned to the army. He joined the ranks of the 92nd separate mechanized brigade named after the Koshovy Otaman Ivan Sirko. He held the position of radio operator of the mortar platoon of the mortar battery. Together with his comrades-in-arms, he defended the eastern direction of the front. "We all mourn Oleksandr very much. We miss him. He will live in our hearts forever!" - wrote his wife Valeria. The warrior was buried in his native village. Oleksandr is survived by his parents, brother, wife, daughter and son.
