- Senior Sergeant Oleksandr Babanskyi (call sign Bob) was killed on August 4, 2022, during the defense of the city of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region. Enemy shelling cut short the life of the defender. He was 42 years old. Oleksandr was from the city of Shostka in the Sumy region. He studied at the local school No. 5. Then he graduated from the Hlukhiv Agrotechnical College with a specialty in "Electrification and Automation of Agriculture". He served in the military. He worked as a driver: first at the Hlukhiv forestry, then at various enterprises. He participated in the ATO in 2014. Then he returned to civilian life. During the full-scale war, Oleksandr volunteered to the military enlistment office. And from March, he defended Ukraine from the occupiers in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was the commander of a section in the 58th separate motorized infantry brigade named after Hetman Ivan Vyhovsky. "Oleksandr Babanskyi was a kind, sincere, and courageous person. He always came to help. The brave hero will forever remain in our hearts and memory," the Shostka community noted. "In the hour of mourning, we express our sincere condolences to the relatives and close ones, share their grief, and mourn with them. Bright memories of a person who lived an honest and worthy life, leaving behind the fruits of good deeds, will always be in our memory," the agrotechnical college where the warrior studied wrote. The defender was buried in the Alley of Glory in his hometown. At home, Oleksandr was awaited by his wife and two sons, who were 13 and 16 years old at the time of his death. In January 2023, a memorial plaque in honor of Oleksandr Babanskyi was unveiled on the facade of Shostka School No. 5.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
