Oleksandr V. Barabash (Taksyst)

Sergeant Oleksandr Barabash (call sign Taxi Driver) was killed on September 30, 2023, while carrying out a combat mission as a result of enemy artillery shelling in the village of Klishchiyivka, Donetsk region. He would have turned 36 years old a month later. Oleksandr was from the Chernihiv region. He grew up in the village of Okhramiyevychi, where he attended the local secondary school. He loved to draw. In civilian life, he was an entrepreneur and had his own business in Kyiv. During the full-scale invasion, he was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He fought as part of the 5th Separate Assault Brigade. "Oleksandr honorably and with dignity fulfilled his duty as a citizen of Ukraine, defending the country from the occupiers. Until his last breath, he remained faithful to his comrades, the people, and the Motherland. He left behind a son who is proud of his father and considers him a Hero. He is also a true Hero to his relatives and friends, to everyone who knew Oleksandr," said Svitlana Martynovich, the mother of the deceased's son. Oleksandr was buried in his native village. He is survived by his son, mother, brother, and sister.
