Oleksandr V. Bekmaniuk (Betmen)

Soldier Oleksandr Bekmaniuk (call sign Batman) was killed on October 14, 2023, during the repulsion of an enemy assault in the area of Novodanilivka village, Zaporizhzhia region. As a result of artillery shelling, he sustained multiple injuries. Oleksandr was 36 years old. He was born in Obukhiv, Kyiv region. He studied at local schools No. 2 and No. 1 named after Andriy Malyshko. He was left without parents at an early age and took care of his younger sister. He worked in various jobs - in construction and enterprises of his hometown, in the taxi service. He loved to repair cars and spend time with children. In September 2022, he voluntarily went to defend Ukraine. As part of the 128th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade, he fought in the Donetsk, Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia regions. "Friendly to his comrades, brave in battle, demanding of himself - such was our fellow countryman Oleksandr Bekmaniuk. And also a good husband and a gentle father. Together with his wife, they raised her daughter Aliona and their common son Andriiko. He tried to give them all the love that was lacking in his own childhood. The awareness of male and warrior duty always drove Oleksandr: he was well-characterized in service, was wounded twice," the Obukhiv City Council said. "Sasha was a loving father. He did not divide the children and loved them equally. A caring, kind, sensitive man and father," said the deceased's civil wife Tetiana. Oleksandr was buried at the municipal cemetery "Polok" in Obukhiv. He is survived by a son, daughter, wife and sister.
