- Senior soldier Oleksandr Horbatiuk (call sign Student) was killed on January 1, 2024 near the settlement of Urozhaine in the Donetsk region. While carrying out a combat mission, he sustained a severe concussion. During the evacuation of the warrior from the battlefield, the enemy began shelling. One of the shells hit the vehicle in which the wounded soldiers were. These injuries proved fatal for Oleksandr. He turned 36 on December 20. Oleksandr was a native and resident of Kryvyi Rih, Dnipropetrovsk region. He graduated from the 9th grade of Lyceum No. 49. He then studied at Vocational School No. 14. In civilian life, he worked as a fastener at the Yuvileina mine. The man was called up for military service on March 10, 2022. He held the position of rifleman in the assault company of the 762nd regiment of the State Special Transport Service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. "Oleksandr was the best dad on earth. The children loved him very much. He was a good and beloved husband. He was very cheerful and had many friends. The family misses him very much and is proud of his courage. He was a very kind person and loved animals. He helped people," his wife Anastasia said. The military man was buried in the cemetery of the Kramatorivka district in his hometown. At home, Oleksandr was awaited by his mother, two older sisters, wife, daughter and son. The children were 10 and 6 years old at the time of their father's death. For his military exploits, the man was posthumously awarded the "For Merit to the City" badge of the III degree. On April 29, 2024, a memorial plaque was unveiled on the facade of Lyceum No. 49 in memory of the fallen graduate.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
