Oleksandr V. Hordiienko

Soldier Oleksandr Hordiienko was killed on September 23, 2023, while carrying out a combat mission in the village of Robotyne, Zaporizhzhia region. A week earlier, the defender turned 29 years old. Oleksandr was born in the city of Ichnia in the Chernihiv region. He studied at the general secondary school of I-III degrees No. 4. He was a diligent student, participated in amateur performances, and had a beautiful voice. Then he entered the Ichnyanskyi Vocational Agricultural Lyceum, where he obtained the profession of a truck crane operator. In civilian life, he worked as a mechanic-adjuster at the Ichnyanskyi Dairy and Canning Plant. When he had free time, he loved to collect and disassemble motorcycles and cars. He was also engaged in sports. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the man joined the volunteer formation of the Ichnyanskyi territorial community, and on May 17, 2022, he voluntarily joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was a sniper-rifleman of the 116th Separate Mechanized Brigade. "This was such a wonderful child... Cheerful, very modest, decent, led a healthy lifestyle. He always helped his friends and did everything for his family. Conscientious, fair, honest, never lied to anyone," said his mother, Liudmyla Anatoliivna. "Oleksandr had many friends. He was a responsible, kind, and energetic person. He always fought for justice, was a true warrior, a patriot, an example of indomitability and strong spirit, willpower, and undefeated," added the Ichnyanskyi City Council. The warrior was buried in his hometown. Oleksandr is survived by his mother and brother.
