Biography
Oleksandr Volodymyrovych Kononenko was born on October 14, 1994, in the village of Kalynivka, Romny district, Sumy region. After graduating from the secondary school in his native village, he studied at the National Academy of Ground Forces named after Hetman Petro Sahaidachny (Lviv). After graduating from the university, he joined the ranks of the 17th separate Kryvyi Rih tank brigade named after Kostiantyn Pestushko. Soon he headed a self-propelled battery. He participated in the war in eastern Ukraine in the ATO zone in Donbas since 2017. Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, he was at the forefront. He held the position of deputy commander of the mechanized battalion for artillery. During the battle in the Luhansk region on April 13, 2022, Oleksandr Kononenko was seriously wounded. He died on April 19, 2022, in the hospital in Dnipro from the wounds received. The farewell ceremony for the fallen took place on April 23, 2022, on the Alley of Glory in Romny, Sumy region. Oleksandr Kononenko was buried in the cemetery in his native village.Burial place
