Biography
Kulik Oleksandr Vasylovych was born on May 24, 1957, in the village of Seredyna-Buda, Sumy Oblast. In 1979, he graduated from the Kyiv State Institute of Physical Education. While working in Sumy, he trained Oleksandr Kyrychenko, the Olympic champion of the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul in the 1000-meter sprint from a standing start as part of the USSR national team, as well as the silver medalist of the 2000 Sydney Olympics, Oleksandr Fedenenko. From the early 2000s, he held the position of director of the comprehensive children's and youth sports school "Ukraine" of the trade union organization of PJSC "Sumbud." With the onset of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, he joined the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was killed on March 1, 2022, in a battle with Russian occupiers near the village of Verkhnya Syrovatka in the Sumy region while trying to stop a column of enemy equipment.Military service
