Oleksandr V. Leunov

Leonov Oleksandr Volodymyrovych was born on December 31, 1987. Since the beginning of the war in Eastern Ukraine, he repeatedly took an active part in the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) and the Joint Forces Operation (JFO): as part of the 81st separate airmobile brigade, he served in the Avdiivka industrial zone, the village of Zaitseve, and other hot spots. During this time, he was wounded three times, but he constantly refused evacuation and remained in position with his unit. He held the position of squad commander of the airmobile-airborne platoon of the 90th separate airmobile battalion named after Hero of Ukraine Senior Lieutenant Ivan Zubkov of the 81st separate airmobile brigade. He was killed on March 16, 2022, as a result of a hostile tank shell hitting the BTR-80 in which he was traveling, in the area of the village of Kamyanka, Izyum district, Kharkiv region. The deceased serviceman was buried on July 27, 2022, in the Holy Resurrection Church of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine in Korets, Rivne region.
