Oleksandr V. Matsak

Matsak Oleksandr Volodymyrovych was born on July 17, 1985, in the village of Spaske, Krolevets district, Sumy region. With the onset of the war in Eastern Ukraine, starting in August 2014, he served in the 24th Separate Assault Battalion "Aidar." He participated in battles in Donbas and held the position of machine gunner in the mechanized battalion. He was killed on March 5, 2022, during shelling from Grad systems in the city of Bucha, Kyiv region. For his personal courage and selfless actions demonstrated in the defense of the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, as well as his loyalty to the military oath, Matsak Oleksandr Volodymyrovych was posthumously awarded the Order of "For Courage" III degree.
