Oleksandr V. Melnyk (Prapor)

Master Sergeant Oleksandr Melnyk (call sign Prapor) was killed on November 10, 2022 in a battle with the occupiers near the city of Orikhiv, Zaporizhzhia region. The defender's life was cut short by enemy artillery fire. The warrior was 50 years old. Oleksandr was born in the village of Horopai, Zhytomyr region. He obtained the profession of a gas and electric welder at a vocational school. He lived in Kyiv. He worked at the Epicenter trade center. During the full-scale Russian invasion, the man fought for his native country in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 65th Separate Mechanized Brigade. He held the position of a rifleman. "The best husband, father, grandfather. Kind, open, reliable. A man with a capital letter," said the wife of the deceased, Lyudmyla. The defender was buried in Kyiv. At home, Oleksandr was awaited by his wife, sister, sons, daughter, nieces, and grandchildren. The soldier was posthumously awarded the medal "Defender of the Fatherland".
