Oleksandr V. Melnyk (Estet)

Sergeant Oleksandr Melnyk (call sign Esthete) died on February 8, 2023, while carrying out a combat mission in the Donetsk region. The soldier was 44 years old. Oleksandr was born in Vinnytsia. He graduated from the Vinnytsia College of Architecture, Construction, and Design. He served his mandatory military service in the airborne troops. Later, he worked as a mechanic in a military unit. He was passionate about fishing, cooking, and reading extensively. He also loved photographing nature. In 2014-2015, he fought in the ATO (Anti-Terrorist Operation) in Donbas. With the start of the full-scale Russian invasion, the man again defended Ukraine. He served in the ranks of the 59th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade named after Yakov Handziuk. He was a squad leader. "Oleksandr was a versatile and developed person, had many friends, and never passed by someone else's misfortune," said the deceased's sister, Natalia. The soldier was buried at the Sabarivske Cemetery in Vinnytsia. Oleksandr is survived by his mother, sister, and two sons.
