Oleksandr V. Sandul (Dius)

Senior Sergeant Oleksandr Sandul (call sign Dius) was killed on June 30, 2023 in battle in the area of the village of Ivanivske in the Donetsk region. The fighter received a fatal explosive injury. The defender was forever 46 years old. Oleksandr was born in the city of Nikopol, Dnipropetrovsk region. He graduated from the local secondary school No. 22. At the age of 17, he began working at the Nikopol Pipe Fittings Plant. In recent years, he has been engaged in repair work. During the full-scale Russian invasion, the man joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and went to defend his native country. He served in the 17th separate Kryvyi Rih tank brigade named after Kostiantyn Pestushko. He was the commander of a mortar crew in a mortar platoon. He took part in the liberation of the Kherson region, then defended Soledar and Bakhmut in the Donetsk region. "My beloved was an incredible person. He was always there where his help was needed. Sashko was the best dad for his sons. He was a man to be proud of and whom many women dream of. I am grateful to fate that he became my beloved. He went to the military enlistment office on his own in the first days of the invasion. I knew that no persuasion of mine would stop him. He went to defend his family, his land," Olga Sandul said. Oleksandr was buried in the Alley of Glory of the cemetery in his native Nikopol. At home, he was awaited by his mother, wife and three children. The defender was posthumously awarded the medal "For Military Service to Ukraine".
