Biography
Savochenko Oleksandr Volodymyrovych was born in 1986 in the village of Proletarske, Korop district, Chernihiv region. He graduated from a nine-year school in his native village, then from the Nizhyn Regional Pedagogical Lyceum with a gold medal. After that, he received education at the Institute of Journalism of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. During his third year, he underwent an internship at the STB TV channel. He began working as a journalist in Kyiv: first at STB, then at the AFP news agency, and later at Suspilne. He made analytical stories on economic and political topics. While fulfilling editorial assignments, he repeatedly visited combat zones. His last report was from Nagorno-Karabakh. Oleksandr Savochenko was passionate about the history of Ukraine, particularly the era of the Ukrainian People's Republic. With the beginning of the full-scale military invasion of Russia in Ukraine on February 25, 2022, he volunteered to defend Ukraine. He was mobilized as an officer to the 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade named after the Black Zaporozhians. At first, he fought between the cities of Chernihiv and Nizhyn, but told his relatives that he was carrying out editorial assignments, traveling to various cities and villages. The soldiers of the battalion of the 72nd Brigade, where Oleksandr served, spoke of their commander as a true officer who was always with the soldiers in the trench, shared everything he had, and tried in every way to support his comrades-in-arms in difficult times. Information about the death of Oleksandr Savochenko in the battles near Bakhmut in the Donetsk region became known on July 27, 2022, from the elder of one of the settlements of the Korop village community. Later, the news of the warrior's death disappeared from the page of the local government body. According to the head of the Korop community, Volodymyr Kunitsyn, the warrior's relatives and close ones still hope that he is alive...
