Oleksandr V. Sushyk (Sova)

Soldier Oleksandr Sushyk (call sign Owl) was killed on May 14, 2023 while performing a combat mission near the city of Chasiv Yar in the Donetsk region. The warrior was 55 years old. Oleksandr was born in the village of Zamosty, Volyn region. He lived his whole life in the village of Myshiv. He obtained the profession of tractor-machine operator at SPTU No. 21 in the village of Ovadno. He got married and raised 5 children with his wife. They were building a house to have enough space for everyone. Recently, he worked abroad. When the full-scale invasion began, Oleksandr decided to immediately return to his homeland and defend it. He joined the ranks of the 4th separate tank brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and went to the front line. "He was a wonderful father, husband, friend, and comrade. Dad was a true Hero, he saved the lives of his comrades. Despite the constant enemy attacks, he defended his country to the last, honorably fulfilled his duty and remained faithful to the oath to the Ukrainian people and Ukraine! We are proud of our dad and consider him a true Hero," said the deceased's daughter Alina. "He was very calm, peaceful, kind, and loved his wife very much. He really wanted to come home even for a day, but they kept promising him... He didn't see his family for almost a year. And then he returned home, for the last time..." added daughter Olena. The defender was buried in the village of Myshiv in Volyn. At home, Oleksandr was awaited by his wife Iryna and five children: Oleksandr, Viktor, Olena, Alina, and Ilona.
