Oleksandr V. Vasylenko

Born on December 1, 1994, in the village of Ihnatpil, Ovruch district, Zhytomyr region. Graduated from the general education school in the village of Ihnatpil, Ovruch district. Since April 2013, he served under contract in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 13th separate airborne battalion of the 95th separate airborne brigade of the High Mobility Airborne Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A1910, city of Zhytomyr). Since the spring of 2014, he participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. On July 27, 2014, he was killed during a battle near the city of Torez (now Chystiakove) in Donetsk region. On July 30, 2014, he was buried in the cemetery of the village of Ihnatpil, Ovruch district. On September 16, 2014, a memorial plaque was opened in the village of Ihnatpil, Ovruch district, on the facade of the general education school (16 Oleksandr Vasylenko Street), where Oleksandr Vasylenko studied. One of the streets in the village of Ihnatpil, Ovruch district, is named after Oleksandr Vasylenko.
