Oleksandr V. Yurchenko

Junior Sergeant Oleksandr Yurchenko was killed on April 8, 2023, in battle with the occupiers near the city of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region. He sustained fatal injuries during an artillery barrage. The soldier did not live for two days until his 32nd birthday. Oleksandr was from the village of Novoselytsia in the Cherkasy region. He graduated from the local school. Then he was drafted into the regular military service. After demobilization, he worked as a construction worker in the capital. Later, he returned home and worked as a laborer on the Agrodana farm. During the full-scale Russian invasion, the man was drafted into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Oleksandr served in the 4th separate tank brigade named after Hetman Ivan Vyhovsky. He held the position of a combat medic in the platoon. "Oleksandr was the best brother. He will remain in the hearts of all who knew him, the bravest Hero of Ukraine," said his sister Yana Kolotushchenko. The military was buried in his native village. Oleksandr is survived by his mother, brother, two sisters, son, and daughter.
