He dedicated his entire 21-year career as a law enforcement officer to the criminal investigation department of Donetsk. In the most difficult times for the country, in 2014, senior police sergeant Oleksandr Trehub remained faithful to his oath and went to Mariupol (he was referred to on separatist websites as a "traitor of the DPR police"). He worked in the regional police headquarters as the senior operative of the search group for pickpocketing cases. "A true professional, a reliable combat comrade, a person with a big heart," is how his colleagues speak of him. Mariinka, Avdiivka, Debaltseve — as part of the consolidated police units, Oleksandr Yevhenovych has been to almost all the hottest spots on the map of Donetsk region. He saved people under devastating shelling, helped, and supported. Recently, he was stationed at the Mariinka checkpoint.
