Oleksandr Ye. Velychko

Oleksandr Yevhenovych Velychko was born on March 9, 2001, in Dnipropetrovsk. After finishing secondary school in his hometown, he served in the air defense forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In mid-February 2022, the unit was redeployed to the Luhansk region, near the city of Svatove, to monitor the airspace from Russia. On February 24, 2022, around 4:30 AM, a Russian aircraft was detected, but it was not shot down due to the lack of permission. Instead, the enemy launched missiles at the Ukrainian unit. Senior soldier Oleksandr Velychko was killed as a result of the first explosion.
