- Hetman Oleksandr Yuriyovych was born on January 24, 1997, in the village of Horodyshche, Bilovodsk district, Luhansk region. In November 2018, Senior Sergeant Oleksandr Hetman took an oath of loyalty to the people of Ukraine. He served in the border service units of the 3rd border detachment of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine: "Bilovodsk" and "Krasna Talivka." As a member of a consolidated group of border guards, he participated in combat operations in Luhansk region. On March 5, 2022, the consolidated group, while carrying out a combat mission in the area of the village of Novokrasnianka in the Kreminna district of Luhansk region, detected the movement of an enemy column. The border guards advanced to the railway bridge to hold the defense. When enemy infantry approached the positions of the defense forces, the consolidated group opened concentrated fire and forced the aggressor to retreat. After an unsuccessful attempt to encircle the border units, suffering losses, Russian troops changed their tactics and resorted to distant shelling. The enemy did not cease attempts to advance. Oleksandr Hetman provided cover for the actions of the border unit with small arms fire, selflessly holding back the advance of Russian troops. Finding himself at the epicenter of the battle, Senior Sergeant Oleksandr Hetman died a heroic death. For his personal bravery, selfless actions displayed in defense of the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and loyalty to the military oath, Senior Sergeant Oleksandr Yuriyovych Hetman was posthumously awarded the Order of "For Courage" III degree.Memory Book of the MIA System
