- Career military serviceman Oleksandr Karaman (call sign Hora) was killed on August 15, 2022, while performing a combat mission in the area of the village of Bohorodychne, Donetsk region. The life of the 49-year-old defender was cut short by a bullet from an enemy sniper. Oleksandr was born in Russia. In 1995, he graduated from the Kharkiv Tank Command School. After graduation, he was the commander of a platoon in military units in the Odesa region. Then he held the position of commander of the reconnaissance company and chief of reconnaissance of the headquarters. In 2002-2005, he held the position of senior assistant to the head of the 1st department of the Poltava Military Commissariat. Until 2010, until his retirement, he served in the internal affairs bodies. He was the head of the department for working with children. He was discharged from the service with the rank of major. He lived with his family in Poltava. From the first day of the full-scale war, on February 24, 2022, he was voluntarily mobilized into the ranks of the 5th battalion tactical group of the 81st separate airmobile brigade, and held the position of commander of the reconnaissance department. "My Sasha was an honest and devoted person to the cause. He was very hurt by the situation in the country. From the first days he was there. First - Zaporizhzhia region, then - the East of our country. He was very worried about me, always called me in his free time, loved his granddaughter Arina very much... But said that he would be calm at home only when we drive all enemies out of our land...", - told the wife of the deceased Olena. The defender was buried on the Alley of Honorable Burials of the Zaturynsky cemetery in Poltava. Oleksandr left behind a wife, son Dmytro, and granddaughter Arina.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
