Oleksandr Yu. Zviahin

47-year-old serviceman Oleksandr Zvyagin was killed on August 19, 2022, during a rocket attack in the Kherson region. Oleksandr was born and lived in the city of Kherson. He graduated from the Kherson College of Physical Culture. He was a master of sports and a junior European champion in freestyle wrestling. He had his own business. After the start of the full-scale invasion, Oleksandr took his family to Bukovina, and he himself returned to defend his hometown from the occupiers. He joined the ranks of the territorial defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Oleksandr was a very strong-willed, restrained person, had his own principles, but always listened to others. After the start of the full-scale invasion, he took his family to a safe place, but he himself could not stay in the rear, wanted to make his own contribution to the liberation of his hometown, dreamed of driving through the streets of Kherson on a tank and shouting: "Victory!" But it didn't happen... Our whole family is in deep mourning, but he wouldn't have wanted that... Because he knew he was in his place, and was happy to help his comrades bring our victory closer," said Oleksandr's niece. The defender was buried in the village of Velykyi Kuchuriv, Chernivtsi region. Oleksandr left behind his father Yuri, mother Lyudmila, and wife Olena.
