Oleksii I. Khvostyk (Khvist)

Alexey Ivanovich Khvostik was born on June 10, 1985, in the village of Verbove, Polohy District, Zaporizhia Oblast. On February 24, 2022, a group under the command of Alexey Khvostik managed to hold back a column of enemy tanks moving from the city of Oleshky for a long time, having only one armored personnel carrier. When the bombardment by enemy aviation began, he ordered all members of his group to retreat, remaining alone with the enemy. His actions allowed for the evacuation of personnel from the National Guard military unit (over 300 people) and the removal of important documents. He covered the retreat of his group until the end, and was killed in the area of the Antonivskyi Bridge near the city of Kherson. For personal courage and selfless actions displayed in defending the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and loyalty to the military oath, Alexey Ivanovich Khvostik was posthumously awarded the Order of "For Courage" III degree.
