Oleksii M. Okrenets (Kukhar)

Soldier Oleksiy Okrenets (call sign Cook) was killed on December 6, 2023 at the O.O. Shalimov Center for Surgery and Transplantology. On October 31, 2023, he sustained a mine-explosive injury during battles in the settlement of Dibrova, Luhansk region. The warrior was 35 years old. Oleksiy was born in the Rivne region. He studied at Zdolbuniv Secondary School No. 3. He graduated from the National University of Water Management and Environmental Engineering, where he received a higher education in the specialty Automated Control of Technological Processes. By profession, he was an engineer for automated production control systems. In civilian life, he worked at Dyckerhoff Cement Ukraine. He was passionate about football and was a fan of FC Inter (Milan). He dreamed of going to the team's game in Italy with his son. He adored Italian cuisine and often cooked according to local recipes. During the full-scale war, in June 2023, he took up the defense of Ukraine. He joined the 100th separate brigade of the territorial defense. He held the position of sniper rifleman. My husband was very fair, honest, strict and at the same time wise. And the eyes, how kind, sincere they were... His gaze and smile said everything instead of him. He wanted to live very much, because he longed to see how the meaning of his life - our little son - grows, wrote his wife Yana. Oleksiy is buried in his hometown. He is survived by his wife Yana and son Volodymyr.
