Oleksii M. Tertychnyi (Kair)

Senior soldier Oleksii Tertych from shrapnel wounds on April 19, 2022, in his native Luhansk region, covering his comrades. He would have turned 32 in May. The serviceman was born in Kremennaya, Luhansk region. He lived in Rubizhne. He received an economic education. In 2017, he joined the 53rd Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Prince Volodymyr Monomakh. He held positions as an air defense gunner, grenade launcher, and sniper. His call sign was Cairo. He participated in the ATO. In March 2022, the man joined the Luhansk Zonal Department of the Military Law Enforcement Service of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was a shooter in the protection and patrol group of the security platoon. The fighter carried out all assigned tasks, shared his combat experience. Then the command decided to create a combat unit, to which Oleksii was assigned. He near the city of Popasna in Luhansk as a result of a shot from an enemy cannon. Oleksii received numerous shrapnel wounds and on the spot. "Very life-loving, friendly, and generous, he would give his last to his loved ones and friends, had plans for life, dreamed of his own car, a family. But when the war started, without hesitation, he went to defend his homeland, because he believed that the most important thing in his life was to defend his country, his flag, his people," said his mother, Svitlana Kondina. It was not possible to bury the hero in his native Luhansk due to intense combat operations. Therefore, he was sent off on his final journey in Kremenchuk, Poltava region. Oleksii is survived by his parents and sister. Posthumously, senior soldier Oleksii Tertych was awarded the Order "For Courage" III degree.
