Oleksii O. Tsybko

Olexiy Oleksandrovych Tsybko was born on March 19, 1967, in the city of Smila, Cherkasy Oblast. He graduated from Lviv State University of Physical Culture named after Ivan Bobersky and the Faculty of International Law of Lviv State University. He ran for the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. From October 29, 2015, to March 1, 2017, he was the mayor of Smila. He was a master of sports of the USSR in discus throwing. He was the captain of the Ukrainian national rugby team and the president of the Rugby Federation of Ukraine (2003–2005). He participated in the Orange Revolution and the Revolution of Dignity. From the first days of the Russian Federation's attack on Ukraine in 2014, he volunteered to go to the ATO zone. In 2022, from the first days of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine, he took part in military actions. He was a sergeant in the special unit of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. He was killed on March 31, 2022, in battle near the city of Bucha in Kyiv Oblast. He is buried at Baikove Cemetery in Kyiv.
