Oleksii S. Hubskyi (Norfolk)

Sergeant Oleksii Hubskyi (call sign Norfolk) was killed in action on March 5, 2022, near the village of Husarivka in the Kharkiv region. He suffered a fatal mine-blast injury during a battle with the occupiers. The defender was 33 years old. Oleksii was born in Mykolaiv. He graduated from the National University of Shipbuilding named after Admiral Makarov. He participated in the ATO in 2015-2017. He fought in Donetsk region as part of the ODCH "Karpatska Sich". Then he returned to civilian life. Together with his wife, they opened a cozy cafe "Veteran Point" with the support of the "Veterano" network. He headed the VO "Svoboda" branch in his hometown. He then continued his studies at the Kherson Maritime College in the specialty of "Ship Navigation". He was interested in the history of the Cossacks and the UPA. His last place of work before the invasion was the coffee shop and company "Marconii". With the beginning of the full-scale war, Oleksii returned to the army and again went to defend his country from the occupiers. He served in the 93rd Separate Mechanized Brigade "Kholodny Yar". He was the chief sergeant of the platoon. Together with his comrades, he defended Kharkiv region. "A bright and straightforward person, Don Quixote, who, without hesitation, fell on the embrasure and rushed to help. A patriot who loved and defended Ukraine to the end. A good friend... A cool person... A super dad for his son... A veteran... A hero... A true... A warrior of the Heavenly Legion..." - this is how the fallen is described by his friends. "Oleksii was a loving, caring, and the best son. We are proud of our Hero son," added his mother Natalia. The hero was buried in the burial sector of the fallen warriors at the Matviivske cemetery in his native Mykolaiv. The defender left behind his parents and son. Posthumously, Oleksii Hubskyi was awarded the Order "For Courage" III degree.
