Oleksii V. Demchuk (Dym)

Defender Oleksiy Demchuk (call sign Dym) was killed on December 11, 2022 during the defense of Bakhmut in Donetsk region. The defender received fatal injuries during enemy artillery shelling. A week before this, he turned 33 years old. Oleksiy was born in the village of Izyumske, Kharkiv region. With the start of the full-scale invasion, the man joined the ranks of the territorial defense of Izyum. After the liberation of the city from the occupiers, the unit was sent to Bakhmut. "He was an incredible person. Sincere, dedicated, a true patriot, always ready for adventures. In the last conversation, he said that we will definitely win, because this is our land, our home, our families," said his cousin Diana. "Oleksiy bravely defended his native country from the enemy and courageously protected Ukraine from the Russians. The fallen hero will always be remembered by his relatives and the residents of the community," the Borivska community said. The serviceman was buried in his native village. At home, Oleksiy was awaited by his mother and brother.
