Oleksii V. Diahovets (Rehbist)

Junior Sergeant Oleksiy Dyahovets (call sign Rugbist) was killed on July 14, 2023 while carrying out a combat mission between the villages of Pidstepne and Kozachi Laheri in the Kherson region. The warrior was 36 years old. Oleksiy was born in the village of Novi Borovychi, Chernihiv region. He lived in Chernihiv. In 2008, he graduated from the Taras Shevchenko Chernihiv State Pedagogical University. He worked at the Chernihiv National University of Technology, headed the Rugby Federation of the Chernihiv region and was the captain of the "Camelot" team. He was passionate about sports, fishing and hunting. Since 2017, he has served in the National Police of Ukraine, his last position was the head of the Preventive Activities Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Chernihiv region. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Senior Lieutenant of Police Oleksiy Dyahovets has been involved in the defense of his native Chernihiv region. In January 2023, he resigned from the police and joined the A0504 military unit of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. For conscientious performance of official duties, Oleksiy was awarded departmental awards of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Police, a certificate of honor from the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the MIA award "Firearm". He was also posthumously awarded the medal "For the Defense of Chernihiv". His wife Oksana said that Oleksiy was a true patriot with the right values and views on life, a wise, honest, courageous and fair person, who combined all the best qualities. She said that such people as Oleksiy should build a bright future in our country and be an example for the younger generation. Oleksiy was buried at the Yatsevo cemetery in Chernihiv. He is survived by his mother, wife and two daughters.
