Biography
Olexiy Volodymyrovych Kovalenko was born on July 16, 1976, in the village of Demydiv, Vyshhorod district, Kyiv region. He graduated from Demydiv Secondary School. After graduating from Kharkiv Military University, he was assigned to his first place of service — he held the position of radar station chief in Odesa region. Later, he was transferred to the Zhytomyr Military Institute named after S. P. Korolyov, where Olexiy Kovalenko worked for 20 years. Since 2016, Lieutenant Colonel Kovalenko repeatedly carried out combat missions in the area of the Anti-Terrorist Operation / Joint Forces Operation. He participated in the training of specialists in electronic warfare and in joint exercises with officers from NATO countries, implementing new methods of training future officers according to NATO standards. He met the full-scale Russian invasion on February 24, 2022, at his combat post near Kyiv, leading a team from a combined electronic warfare company as part of the capital's defense forces. He was killed on February 25, 2022, by enemy bullets near his hometown of Demydiv during a combat clash, preventing the death of his subordinates. He is survived by his wife and two children.Burial place
