Oleksii V. Samarchuk

Mortar operator Oleksiy Samarchuk (call sign Blitz) died on December 25, 2023, during an enemy mortar attack in the Serebryanske forestry, near the village of Dibrova in Luhansk region. The defender was 24 years old. Oleksiy was born in the village of Zapillya in Volyn. He obtained a secondary specialized education at the Lyubomyl Vocational Lyceum. He loved sports. During the full-scale war, he defended the country in the ranks of the National Guard of Ukraine. He held the position of mortar operator in the 3rd platoon of the 1st company of the 2nd battalion of the 12th Special Purpose Brigade "Azov". He had the rank of soldier. "He was the best person in the world, he would have been the best dad, he was very much looking forward to the birth of his son. Very kind and caring, he always helps in trouble even to strangers. He was always in a positive mood and brought joy to everyone. We will always remember and love our dad and beloved, he is the best thing that has been in my life. I love you, my Blitz," said his wife Viktoria. The defender was buried in his native village. Oleksiy left behind a wife and a son who was born after his father's death. Oleksiy Samarchuk was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree.
