Oleksii V. Storozhuk (Zhuk)

Junior Sergeant Oleksii Storozhuk (call sign Zhuk) died on August 29, 2023 in the hospital. On August 2, in a battle with the occupiers near the village of Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region, he sustained serious injuries during enemy mortar shelling. On September 29, the defender would have turned 25 years old. Oleksii was born in the village of Nova Rudnia, Zhytomyr region. In 2015, he graduated from the Luhynska Gymnasium named after Filkov, and in 2019 - from the Construction College of the Zhytomyr National Agroecological University. He served a regular term in the 101st Protection Brigade of the General Staff of Ukraine. After demobilization, he worked at a concrete plant in Ukrainka. From the first days of the full-scale invasion, the man went to defend his native country from the occupiers, joining the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 116th Separate Mechanized Brigade. He held the position of gunner of a mechanized unit. "Sincere condolences to the relatives and close ones, we share your pain and bow our heads in deep sorrow. May the Lord give you the strength to overcome the grief that will never pass, will not be forgotten... The bright, kind memory of the valiant warrior, the defender of Ukraine, will forever remain in the hearts and memories of his comrades-in-arms, relatives and countrymen! Eternal peace to the soul and glory to the defender!" - noted in the Korosten District State Administration. The fighter was buried in the village of Starosillia, Zhytomyr region. At home, Oleksii was awaited by his sisters Tetiana and Nadiia.
