- Reconnaissance officer Oleksii Horninskyi (call sign Obolon) died in the hospital on December 28, 2022, from shrapnel wounds received in battle with Russian invaders near Bakhmut in the Donetsk region. The warrior was forever 23 years old. Oleksii was born and lived in Kyiv. He graduated from the educational complex No. 240 "Sotsium". He served in the military. He was passionate about football and supported CSKA (Kyiv). He was a representative of the "Old Castle" team. He spent his free time with his family, loved ones, and friends. He loved to walk in the parks. He was interested in cars. During the full-scale Russian invasion, Oleksii fought for his native country as part of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was a fighter of the 63rd Separate Mechanized Brigade. He took part in battles for the Kherson and Mykolaiv regions. "He was an incredibly kind person. Until the last day, he was a courageous, strong warrior. He always helped all his relatives and friends. He had many dreams that he did not have time to fulfill. He always smiled and could make everyone he knew smile. His comrades respected him and consulted with him... I remember well the day we met. It was from that first look of yours that I understood that I could not go on without you. After the war, we were supposed to get married. But the stamp in the passport did not prevent us from calling each other husband and wife. He always taught me: 'You are the wife of a military man, and therefore strong, like a man.' He is the one who showed me the love I had only dreamed of... Heaven takes the best. I miss you endlessly, I love you. Your wife," wrote the deceased's beloved. "We've all gotten used to his cool drone videos. He was a master of his craft. Constant and exhausting battles did not scare him. He rushed into battle, courageous and brave, but at the same time so simple and cheerful. He always helped his comrades-in-arms. During the repulsion of the attack on one of the settlements of the Mykolaiv region, he pulled out and evacuated many of his comrades from under the shelling. We lost a worthy son and patriot of Ukraine, we lost, but we did not forget and will never forget, brother! Oleksii was a true friend and a hero," wrote on the page of FC CSKA. The warrior was buried on the Alley of Heroes of the Forest Cemetery in Kyiv. Oleksii is survived by his parents, sister, fiancée, loved ones, and friends.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
