Oleksii Yu. Kostiuk (Panchyk)

Alexey Kostyuk (call sign Panchik), a communications officer, was killed on January 2, 2023, while carrying out a combat mission near the settlement of Zarichne in the Donetsk region. The defender was 26 years old. Alexey was born in the village of Zamiske, Kharkiv region. He graduated from 11 grades of the local school. Then he stuwas killed at the Kharkiv Vocational Lyceum of Railway Transport, where he obtained the profession of a passenger car conductor. After completing his studies, he served in the military at the Research and Training Center "Desna" as an electrical operator of the air defense fire area. After demobilization, he returned to Kharkiv. He worked as a warehouse manager at a private enterprise. With the beginning of the full-scale invasion, on March 5, 2022, the man was voluntarily mobilized into the ranks of the 113th separate brigade of the territorial defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He held the position of an electrician in the electrical supply department of the information and telecommunications hub. He conscientiously performed all the tasks assigned to him. Risking his life, he participated in organizing continuous communication between the battalion units in Zolochiv, near Bakhmut and Kreminna. "Alexey will be remembered as a kind, bright person, a true and fair man, a loving son and brother, the best friend. According to his comrades-in-arms, Alexey had all the qualities of a courageous warrior, he looked death in the eye more than once. He was always in a positive mood and lifted everyone's spirits even in the most difficult situations," said the sister of the fallen Lyudmyla Chernyak. The military was buried in his native village. Alexey is survived by his parents, two sisters and a brother. Another older brother was killed in battle with the invaders on March 20, 2022.
