- Soldier Oleksiy Nesterenko (call sign Vodoley) was killed on March 21, 2023 in the village of Komisarove, Kharkiv region. During the evacuation of a comrade, he encountered a mine and received fatal injuries. Oleksiy was 32 years old. He was born in Komsomolsk-on-Amur (Russia), but at the age of 9 months, he moved to Mykolaiv with his parents. He spent his entire life there. He graduated from school and then entered a law lyceum. Oleksiy's parents was killed before he turned 18, so his upbringing was taken care of by his aunt. He obtained a higher education at the Admiral Makarov National University of Shipbuilding. His specialty was law. In childhood, he was a professional football player. As he grew older, he went to the gym for training. He also loved basketball and played for the local club for some time. His last place of work was a confectionery factory. During the full-scale war, at the end of March 2022, Oleksiy voluntarily joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He underwent training in the village of Yarmolinтi, Khmilnytskyi region, as part of the 3rd Separate Tank Brigade. In June, he was transferred to the reconnaissance company. In early July 2022, he was sent to the Kupiansk district in the Kharkiv region. A few months before his death, Oleksiy received the badge of the Chief of the General Staff "Glory and Honor". "He was very loved and respected. He, of course, did not admit this, but he had golden hands," wrote his acquaintance Leonid Gisin. The defender was buried at the Central City Cemetery in Mykolaiv.
